The Imperial College Sri Lankan Society hosted yet another memorable Sapphire 2013 at Troxy, London on the 9th of March. The annual charity dinner and dance event impressed a 750 strong audience and the feedback so far has been immense with the committee making the charitable donation to 'Medical Aid to Sri Lanka' charity supporting the lives of those in hardship in Sri Lanka.
Having raised the levels of expectation ever since the event was held at Wembely Stadium in 2011, the student executive-committee led by co-presidents Nipun Wijegunasekera, 3rd year Civil Engineering and Rebecca Liyanage, 4th year Chemical Engineering addressed the issue by securing as the special guest host, the talent of JehanR, Youtube's sensation.
Adding to a strong line-up of artists which included the vocal styling of Ashanthi de Alwis and the popular band Exceed followed by BBC Radio 1's DJ Nihal and returning DJ Andy P, the sell-out crowd was drawn in by the display of the International Cricket Council Champions League Trophy on the night of the event.
